Linear Asset Management
PMWeb's Asset Management module includes a Google maps integration with polylining for the management of linear assets. Within the different records within the Asset heirarchy, the records are able to specify coordinates or an address to identify the assets within a Google maps object embedded within PMWeb and SQL Reports. For linear assets, the google maps integration allows for creation of polylines to define the path of the linear assets.
Linear Asset Definition
PMWeb includes a Linear definition section for high level linear details outlining where the linear asset begins and where it ends. The fields within this section can be manually entered or automatically populated from the Google maps integration. Selecting the map button within the Linear Definition box opens a Google Map pop-up box that displays the linear asset that has been mapped out using the integrated Google map polylining feature.
Google Maps Polylining Integration
This feature within PMWeb allows Asset Officers to specify coordinates for where the linear asset exists. Using the "Update Begin, End and Approx. Length" option, the linear definitions fields are able to be automatically updated with the information populated within the map.
Asset Map Area Calculations
Using the Polylining integration feature, approximate areas can also be defined in the system for location area sizes.
Defining linear assets at different levels of heirarchy
The Polylining feature is able to define linear assets at different levels of the heirarchy e.g/ at the Equipment or sub-asset level.
Embedding web-based systems such as ESRI Maps
PMWeb's ability to embed other web-based systems within a PMWeb Home tab allows for quicker access to other tools that are used to manage linear assets such as ESRI maps.
